The awards ceremony will be held at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

At the awards ceremony, Thatcher will perform the Presto from Domeniconi's Koyunbaba.

Description

Each spring, the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra accepts applications for the Lillian B. Lamoureux Music Scholarship.

The scholarship competition is open to all South Coast music students ages 14-21. Scholarship finalists are invited to audition before the scholarship committee at UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts.

Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded, one to a high school student and one to a college student. Scholarships may be used for private music lessons, tuition, or other expenses that further the student’s music education.

Competing in the High School division, Thatcher won the 2018 Lillian B. Lamoureux Scholarship.
